Hof Law, LLC Honors the Life and Legacy of President Jimmy Carter

Today, Hof Law, LLC joins the world to mourn the loss of President Jimmy Carter, a man whose century of life was defined by his unwavering commitment to peace, humanitarianism, and service to others. 

In recognition of his extraordinary life, the firm has honored President Carter by initially donating $100—an amount symbolic of his age at the time of his passing—to The Carter Center's Enduring Hope Fund.  The firm also intends to make future donations.

Hof Law, LLC's Organizer, Joseph Hof, said, "[I]n remembering him, we also remember the values he championed: integrity, compassion, and the belief that every individual has the power to make a meaningful difference in the world.

As a company, we recognize that President Carter’s life is not just a historical marker but an ongoing source of inspiration. In the coming months, we are committed to studying the lessons of his remarkable journey—his dedication to service, his emphasis on honesty and selflessness, and his commitment to addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges. We will incorporate these principles into the very fabric of our work, striving to elevate our corporate responsibility and strengthen our own sense of purpose.

In keeping with our desire to better align our operations with the values of compassion and long-term societal good, we are also announcing that in 2025, the firm will transition to a different business entity structure. Specifically, we will be pursuing nonprofit status in the new year, in order to maximize our potential for positive impact and to dedicate even more of our resources to the causes that are close to our hearts. This transition represents a renewed commitment to serving our community, advocating for change, and ensuring that we contribute meaningfully to the betterment of society—just as President Carter did throughout his life.

We fully acknowledge that this is a time of mourning, and we wish to offer our deepest condolences to the Carter family and all those who loved and admired him, especially our extended family at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which President Carter created through Executive Order in 1979. Additionally, we also view this moment as a reminder of the power of legacy and the opportunity to live a life of service. We hope to honor President Carter’s life by applying his example to our work every day, both now and in the years to come.

May his memory inspire us all to lead with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to doing good in the world. As President Joe Biden said tonight from the Virgin Islands, "there is nothing we can't do, if we do it together.""
